Get into the game! Our popular intramural sport leagues are a great way to make friends and play sports at a competitive or recreational level.
To join a league, choose one of two options when registering:
- Teams: Create your own team and invite your friends and classmates to register and join you
- Individuals: Want to play but don't know enough people to create your own team? Join one of the designated "Individuals" teams and play with others at the same skill level
Registration for Fall 2026 indoor soccer and basketball leagues opens on August 24. Registration for volleyball opens on September 9. Spots are limited, so register quickly!
Volleyball starts on September 28 while soccer and basketball start October 6 and 7.
Volleyball
Mondays from 5:30 to 10:30 pm
Multiple courts, music, and major fun on Mondays!
Our popular volleyball league uses a ladder league format. Each week, your team will move up or down the league standings based on how you did the previous week. This is ensures you get to compete against teams at a similar skill level.
Teams are co-ed and two of the opposite sex need to be on the court at all times.
This league fills up every year, so register your team quickly to ensure your spot! Fall 2026 registration opens on September 9.
Indoor Soccer
Tuesdays from 7 to 10:30 pm
No worrying about the weather as we bring soccer indoors at the VIU Gym!
Teams play five on five and do not have to be co-ed. This league uses a ladder league format. Each week, your team will move up or down the league standings based on how you did the previous week. This is ensures you get to compete against teams at a similar skill level.

Basketball
Wednesdays from 6:30 to 10:30 pm
On Wednesday night, we shoot hoops on the home court of the Mariners! Teams play five on five and do not have to be co-ed.
This league uses a ladder league format. Each week, your team will move up or down the league standings based on how you did the previous week. This is ensures you get to compete against teams at a similar skill level.

Badminton
Not offered as an intramural league through VIU Athletics and Recreation in 2026, but the VIU Badminton Club hosts badminton sessions at the VIU Gym on Sundays during the school year. Please contact the Club on Instagram for more information or to register as a club member.
